This week we will be finishing up our 12 colors. All the intermediate colors were created with cut paper designs. Students will be taking their original template they created in their sketchbooks to create their designs. They will trace the shape onto each rectangle of color and cut out their design. They will arrange each shape to create their Unique Color Wheel design. Students will add additional related shapes to their composition, using complimentary colored construction paper. This will incorporate the principle of unity in their design.
Students learned about the color wheel. We discussed primary, secondary, intermediate, analogous and monochromatic colors. The class started with primary colors and had to mix their secondary colors. Construction paper designs were used to create the intermediate colors.
This week students will be making a cover for their sketchbooks. They will be incorporating the elements of art to create a design for the cover. They will also include 2 principles of art in their design.
