Wednesday students will learn about African American artist Faith Ringgold by watching "The Last Story Quilt". Students will answer questions as they watch the video.
Thursday students will examine Ringgold's work and think about how they will tell their visual story.
Friday students will create a brainstorming list of ideas for their story quilt. They will choose a childhood story or memory, a current event or their cultural heritage.
Tuesday through Thursday students will finish painting their Aboriginal Dot Art paintings.
Friday students will write an artist statement to accompany their work.
Monday and Tuesday students will continue to paint solid areas of color with tempera paints.
Wednesday students will begin painting small dots to outline and define objects.
Thursday students will learn about artist Pablo Picasso and answer questions in Scholastic Arts Magazine.
Friday students will continue to paint their designs.
Monday students will learn about Aboriginal Art and think about what kind of dot art they would like to create.
Tuesday and Wednesday students will create a rough sketch of an animal or map of their choice.
Thursday and Friday students will draw out their design on drawing paper.
