Monday and Tuesday students will begin adding the elements of color and value to their calacas.
Wednesday students will view work of non-traditional sculptors.
Thursday and Friday students will continue to work on their calacas.
Monday students will use brainstorming skills to decide what career their calaca had while they were living. Students will begin sketching their ideas.
Tuesday students will include a foreground, middle ground and background to their sketch. Students will decide the "environment" of their calacas.
Wednesday students will begin the final drawing of their calacas. They will draw lightly with pencil first to cover the entire surface of their paper.
Thursday and Friday students will finish drawing their designs.
7th period will meet M, W,F of this week. 6th period will meet T, TH of this week.
We will be watching the Golden Globe winning film, "The Book of Life" to learn about Dia de los Muertos and Mexican folklore. Students will get inspiration from the images in the movie to create their own Calacas.
Monday students will score and slip their pinch pots together and begin shaping the body of their monsters.
Tuesday students will add legs, tentacles, etc. to the bottom of their clay to create the principle of balance.
Wednesday students will add facial features to their monsters. All pieces will be scored and slipped onto the clay body.
Thursday students will add texture to their monsters using a variety of tools.
Friday students will cut an opening for the mouth of their monster and add additional features by scoring and slipping them on.
