This week we have started a Manga project. We explored the history of Japanese Manga Graphic Narratives. We looked at some familiar characters from television and other media. Students started to create a short story about an original character, which they can illustrate using the elements of Manga.
Students learned about the principle of balance. We are focusing on asymmetrical balance for our Non-Traditional Mandalas project. Three thumbnail sketches were to be completed in their sketchbooks using different weights of line. They also needed to add value to their designs using hatching, cross-hatching and stippling.
When final designs were completed, they worked on a vocabulary crossword.
