Students will continue to finish drawing their designs with pencil. Designs will be traced over in sharpie. Value will be added using 3 drawing techniques that we went over in class. These techniques are: hatching, cross hatching and stippling. Students will follow their rubric to make sure that they are meeting the criteria for the project.
Thursday we will work in the computer lab. Students are beginning a "Harlem Renaissance Artist Research Poster". Each student will pick an artist from their hand out. They will answer 4 biographical questions and 4 style and media questions to gather the facts for their poster.

Students will begin a Non-Traditional Mandalas assignment. They will sketch out 2 designs showing varied line widths and weights in an asymmetrical composition. Students will choose their strongest design to draw on paper. Using a compass, students will create a large circle, extending the width of the paper. Designs will be drawn in pencil.
Students will be creating sketchbooks and designing their cover using the 7 elements of art. We will talk about the principle of balance and complete a few activities to be able to identify radial, symmetrical and asymmetrical balance.
Welcome back! This week we will go over classroom rules, procedures and expectations. We will have a pre-test on Wed. We will begin to put together our sketchbooks the rest of the week.
