We are on Day 4 of our Art Poetry Slam project. We will begin using the information we gathered last week to write our own slam poetry. Students will choose their own poem or the poem they researched to create a visual representation of their poem. They can incorporate words, images, material, etc. in this mixed media project.
We will finish our work sheets on the principle of Balance. Students will begin a Art and Poetry Slam project on Tuesday. We will spend several days in the computer lab using simple research techniques to acquire information about Harlem Renaissance writers and poets. Eight facts and a poem or story will be printed or hand written for students to reference to write their own slam poetry. Students will plan how they want to visualize their poem. The art work will be a mixed media composition. Students have many choices of materials and techniques for this project.
Students will be finishing up their Non Traditional Mandalas on Tuesday. We will have an assessment for our Mandala project. We will complete a packet on the Principle of Balance. Students will create examples of radial, symmetrical and asymmetrical balance designs.
Students will learn about Mandalas and balance. We will begin a Non Traditional Mandala project. Students will be using asymmetrical balance and different line weights to create their designs. We will learn how to create value with 3 drawing techniques: hatching, cross hatching and stippling. Value will be added to the black and white design using one or all 3 drawing techniques.
