Students will be researching Ethnic Tribes of Africa as a group. They will present their info to the class, focusing on the art of the tribes. We will begin a painting of an african animal that we have viewed during presentations. Students will be drawing their artwork with chalk onto tar paper. They will use textured, layered acrylic paint to render their work and paint over it with clear varnish when it is dry. They will also include their initials and a border or frame with a pattern, resembling African Tribal design.
We will be making decorations for Martin's Restaurant. Students may choose to make an oragami tree, a woven snowflake or their own cut paper creation. Students may symbolize celebrations of their culture or heritage.
We will begin our African Tribal research project on Friday.
