Monday we will finish our Art History Memes in the computer lab.
Tuesday: Students will vote for their favorite Art History Meme using the class website. Students will critique their work.
Wednesday: Students will participate in a Element of Art Scavenger Hunt. Students will work in pairs and use I Pads or their devices to find 3 examples of each of the 7 elements of art within and outside of the classroom. Students will take pictures to document their findings.
Thursday: Students will experiment and explore the element of color. Students will mix and create secondary colors
Friday: Students will learn about analogous colors and complete a hand out during class.
Monday 8th grade students will be finishing up their Water Smart Art. Tuesday we will look at historically famous works of art and try to interpret their meaning. Wednesday we will begin researching from a list of artists. Students will choose an artist and find a work of art that interests them. They will determine the meaning through research and opinion. Students will create a Word Document with an image of the original work and their interpretation/research. Students will save their work to their student ID folder. Thursday we will finish up research and begin creating Art Memes with the famous works of art that the students saved to their student ID folder. We will use Pixlr.omatic and pixlr. com photo editing applications to manipulate or alter the look of the original image. Students will add text to create the saying for their meme. We will continue to work on ourArt History Memes on Friday.
We will continue to work on our Water Smart Art projects. Monday through Thursday students will use watercolor paint, chalk pastel and colored pencil to render their compositions. Friday will be the last day to work on this project. We will put the final touches on our art work.
Monday students will view a presentation on water conservation. Students will brainstorm and create a list of 10 reasons that water is important. Tuesday students will create objects or symbols to represent their brainstorming list items. Wednesday students will start creating rough sketches for a composition about water conservation to create a work of art for the Water Smart Art competition. Thursday students will continue to sketch or start to put their ideas on final drawing paper. Friday students will begin to add the elements of color and value to their art work with colored pencils, chalk pastels or watercolor paints.
Welcome back students! Monday we will look at different art comics and choose one that best describes how we feel in the art room. We will then write, "What art is" and "What art isn't" on a sticky note. We will discuss our answers as a class and then stick them on the 8th grade cabinet. We will also view Mrs. MacJack's art work.
Tuesday we will go over classroom rules and procedures. We will have a name tag to fill out our "Art Goals" for the year. We will discuss them and then attach them to the paper on the wall on the kiln door.
Wednesday, we will be learning about our "art interests". We will choose 6 questions from a slide we will view in class. We will draw a symbol for each answer to the questions. We will share them in class.
Thursday we will be designing our folder for class. We will create a design using the letters of our name to fill the entire surface of the front of my folder. I will be creative with the shape, color and design of each letter to make it interesting to look at.
Friday we will finish our folder designs and color them.
